EPIC’s research focuses on providing timely advice to policymakers and the wider industry to understand Scotland's livestock sector and the global risk of a disease incursion.

Policy engagement
EPIC has dedicated translational scientists who enable communication between EPIC's multi-disciplinary team and policymakers, while also conducting research on strategies to enhance the effectiveness of science-policy engagement.

One Health
EPIC uses One Health approaches and engages with external agencies to address issues at the interface of human, animal and environmental health.

Data management and pipelining
EPIC’s dedicated data team works closely with data providers to provide researchers with detailed data on Scotland’s livestock and the environment. EPIC embraces data pipelining approaches to improve data processing and transparency.

Risk assessment
Veterinary Risk Assessment is a tool used to synthesize evidence for decision-making. EPIC conducts Veterinary Risk Assessments to determine the likelihood and impact of an event happening to address a specific risk question.
