Outbreak response
Providing rapid access to emergency advice and analysis in the event of disease outbreaksResponding to animal disease outbreaks
EPIC researchers use data on livestock populations and movements to provide rapid intelligence to Scottish Government policymakers in the event of a disease outbreak. Utilising a range of statistical techniques and models researchers can provide insight into rapidly developing outbreak situations.

Modelling disease spread
Disease models are used to simulate disease risk and spread and test potential interventions. EPIC researchers build models based on real-time data and the latest research insights to reflect Scotland's unique livestock systems. Models are developed with input from economists, social scientists, the livestock industry and policy makers to ensure they reflect realistic scenarios.

Livestock traceability
Scotland benefits from comprehensive data on livestock movements. EPIC researchers use livestock data to track movements of animals to identify potential roots of disease spread.
